Cannon Photo Printers

Canon have recently announced two new photo quality printers to compete with the market that Epson have dominated. For many people one criticism of Epson printers is that they still use a five colour ink cartridge in the 1290 printer. Canon have for many years used separate tanks for each individual ink. However, soon after Canon announced their new printers Epson introduced new models, one with 7 separate inks including a lighter black!

So how do the new Canon S900 (A4, 6 colour ink) and S9000 (A3+, 7 colour ink ) compare to the Epson range in other respects? Most photographic magazines rate the Epson printers as the best, but the very latest Canon and Hewlett Packard printers are very close when it comes to quality, however print speed is another issue.

The quality of either should be excellent when using a 4000 ppi scanned image, but the Canon printers are a lot faster, the S9000 producing an A3 photo in just over two minutes!

The Epsons are unique in having a slot for a CD, for printing onto a CD with label, or envelope, or thick card.

The battle lines are drawn, the price for the S9000 being £445 and the Epson 2100 £493.
