My new PC motherboard, a Gigabyte 7ZX, failed after five weeks and a few months to obtain a replacement. Anyway, whilst waiting, I've installed an ASUS A7V board motherboard using the AMD 1200MHz Athlon processor (apr 2002). This has turned out to be even superior to the Gigabyte board. Try new Asus motherboard link for details.

Memory consists of 768 Mb of PC133 RAM. Currently I have five IDE hard disk drives installed (4-ATA100 and 1-DMA66), providing me with 260 Gbytes!.

An Adaptec 2930 SCSI card is installed for optimum performance from a Canon film scanner.

When scanning and manipulating photographs you will need at least a mid-range system (450 MHz processor or faster) with plenty of hard disk space, fast disk access, plenty of RAM (click link on left to see why), USB support and/or a SCSI card for a scanner. To help minimize hard disk space a CD-writer is also advisable.
